Peal and seed a Tomato?
- Fill a large pot 1/2 full w/ water and bring to a boil.
- Take tomato and on the end where the stalk came out (large hole on top, that is called the blossom) make an X with a paring knife.
- Fill a large bowl with cold water (add some ice if you have some).
- Put tomatoes in boiling water for 15-30 seconds or until you see the skin start to pull away from the tomato (it does not have to be a lot). Do not over crowd your pot.
- Put tomatoes in ice bath. You are shocking the tomatoes, this is to stop them from cooking and you will easily be able to remove the skins.
- Get a bowl with a strainer of colander that will fit on top, this is so you will not lose any juice (improvise if you have to).
- Cut your tomato crosswise (put your tomato on its side and cut in half).
- Remove the seeds into the strainer and uput the flesh into a bowl.
- When you are done with all your tomatoes squish the seeds and pulp that are in the strainer to get all the excess juice.
